Each summer I love going out onto the lakes of Waterton Lakes National Park and kayaking. My favourite place is Cameron Lake which is hidden away up in the mountain valleys. When the water is so calm that it looks like glass, it makes the ground totally disappear and it seems like I'm just floating in the middle of nothing. There isn't anything more peaceful than being in the middle of the lake, where all you can hear are the sounds of nature, and just enjoying the panorama around. Although the peaceful lakes are calm and serene, it is also fun to ride the bigger waves too. On the main lake in Waterton, there are ferries that go from one end of the lake to the other. They create perfect waves behind them to go and be carried along. However, you have to be careful not to fall in because of how cold it is! While Kayaking, I have been able to see some amazing wildlife (unfortunately I didn't have my camera with me on those trips). One trip with my brother we saw six black bears, two grizzly bears, and two moose. Just last summer my wife and I were out and we had the chance to see a mother black bear and her three cubs come down into the lake, bath, and then scavenge along the shore for another two hundred meters before climbing back up into the forest. It was fascinating to watch. There were some people canoeing only about four hundred meters in front of us but they just missed seeing them. The timing couldn't have been more perfect. Here are some more photos!

Art can take many forms. Paintings, music, writing, sculptures, etc. While in the mall today we came upon this piece of art that at first didn't really stand out to me, but then I saw what it was made of; aluminum cans. It is a sculpture promoting living green by #albertadepot. It was cool to see something so vibrant and life-giving made from recycled material. It was a good reminder that everyone needs to try to do their small part to make the world a better place to live in. What do you do with your recycling?
Last Friday we drove up to the Maskinonge in Waterton Lakes National Park. It was unbelievably calm that evening. I don't think I have ever seen it so still; the water was like glass. So here are some reflection images from that evening. I love sunsets. There is something so magical about this short time each day. The colours that appear in the sky are amazing. The natural array of colours that blend perfectly is hypnotizing. Since the intense colours of sunsets usually last but minutes, I find that they help me pause, sit back for a moment, and reflect upon life and the beauty of the earth on which we live. I wish that they would last longer, but I think it is that shortness of time that really makes them so special. We live in such a busy world that the small beauties we can see every day can pass right by us without us even giving it a glance. This goes for more than just sunsets, it goes for our families, friends, a book you are reading, anything really. Next time you see a sunset, pause for a moment from your busy schedule to just enjoy it. These photos were taken in Waterton Lakes National Park. At the beginning of fall I love when the grass is still green but the leaves have already changed colour. The contrast is so beautiful. I've already talked a lot about fall so I'll try to avoid more of that. I love rows of trees, they are mesmerizing. This shot reminds me of on movies when they do that weird zoom out thing when the character looks down a stretch similar to this one.
